Lake Greenwood Boat Charters
Get out on the water with a licensed captain for your private cruise, lake tour, sunset cruise, or let us safely take you and your guests to one of the wonderful destinations on Lake Greenwood!
How It Works
Get In Touch
We post “Packages” as guidelines and to give you ideas, but we can customize just about any trip you would like. Just get in contact with us by phone, text message, Facebook, Facebook Messenger, this website or even on marine radio! (use channel 16 to hail “Shady Lady” and we’ll move to another channel to talk, it’s fun!) and we will setup the trip you want.
Once we have the details of your trip worked out, we will agree on a price. A 25% refundable deposit will be collected* and the trip will be scheduled – perhaps to depart immediately. Once on board, we will collect the remainder of the payment. Payments can be made with all major credit cards, cash, and electronic checks either via an email invoice or in person on the boat. We will make it work for you!
Our preferred pick up and drop off point is Break on the Lake. It’s easy to park, pick up catering, or have a meal before or after your trip. However, we will gladly pick you and your party up at any public boat dock on Lake Greenwood or at any restaurant dock on the lake. We will also come to your privately owned dock, vacation rental dock or campsite.
Just before your scheduled departure time, we will share our boat’s location in real time via Facebook Messenger, Find My Friends, or a similar app of your choice. You can track our progress to your location in real time.
Once on board, we will present our credentials, cover the required safety information, store your belongings and get underway!
* Deposits for trips cancelled 5 days or more before scheduled departure are fully refundable. Deposits for trips cancelled 72 hours before scheduled departure are 50% refundable. Deposits for trips cancelled 48 hours or less prior to departure are not refundable. Cancellations due to weather: The Captain will call you 24 hours prior to departure if severe weather is predicted to discuss options. Cancellations due to severe weather are fully refundable. However, please note that a prediction of scattered rain showers is not “severe weather.” Thunderstorms, high winds and/or prolonged heavy rain is considered severe weather.

Frequently Asked Questions
Well, that depends upon how long you the trip is and what all you want to do. Generally, a captained charter with us won’t cost very much more than a regular pontoon rental once you factor in the fuel cost, taxes and all the add-ons. With us, everything is included in your quoted price. If you’re comparing prices, ask for a total cost and ask to see their license.
All of our trips include bottled water and light snacks, like pre-packaged crackers and chips. Our current interpretation of state laws prohibits us from preparing food for you while onboard (we are still investigating this as federal regulations may allow it). However, we can indeed arrange for catering of full meals, snacks, desserts, and just about anything you would like from one of the restaurants on the lake. This is, of course, at an additional cost, but we make it very easy and it’s our preferred method of having food onboard. Special catering packages from Break on the Lake will be posted soon.
Yes. Guests over 21 years of age can bring their own alcohol and consume it onboard. You can also bring your own soft drinks.
Yes! However, please note that we are not currently offering trips as “fishing guides.” We aren’t currently equipped to provide professionally guided fishing charters. However, if you would like to bring your own gear or simply have us take the grandchildren out to a good fishing spot, we can certainly do that! If you need a professionally guided fishing trip, we can give you a referral to another licensed captain on a nearby lake.
Yes! We can’t give you a Captain’s License, of course, but we are happy to give you and your party an education on the basics of seamanship.
Yes. But, you’ll need to talk with the captain.
No. But, if you have children that weigh less than 50 pounds, you will need to talk with the captain directly. All guests are welcome to bring their own Personal Flotation Devices if you would like, however, it is not required. Some guests find it more enjoyable to swim with a lighter Type III PFD than using one of our large commercial USCG Type I jackets we are required to have on board – think cruise ship life jacket…. not very practical for relaxing in the water. Any questions, please talk with the captain.
Yes…. But, there is a small extra charge that varies on the size of the tube – usually $25 to $50 for the entire trip. Please note, these tubes take up a great deal of deck space and the captain will not engage in any aggressive maneuvers with anyone being pulled on any type of tube. The better way to describe it would be that the captain MAY allow a guest or two to ride on a tube behind the boat, but that is completely at the discretion of the captain. Please discuss this in detail with the captain well in advance of your trip.
If it’s an alligator, no. If it’s a small polite dog with a life vest that also knows how to swim, maybe. Talk with the captain directly about your fur baby.
Hopefully so. If there aren’t any conflicting trips, we will do our best to accommodate an extension of your trip for an additional fee.
